Yes Men Arrive at Shortwave for One Night Only

Shortwave Cinema in Bermondsey Square is hosting a free screening of The Yes Men Fix the World on December 16 December at 7.30pm, to coincide with the United Nations Conference for Climate Change currently taking place in Copenhagen.

The Yes Men Fix the World is a screwball true story that follows two gonzo political activists as they infiltrate the world of big business and pull off outrageous pranks that highlight the ways that corporate greed is destroying the planet. Along the way the duo discover the culprits behind the cult of greed, and in a wildly uplifting ending, they find a way for everyone to defeat the cult and save civilization from its own worst excesses.

Described as ‘the year’s documentary film’ by The New Scientist, The Yes Men Fix The World premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation, then went on to win the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. The special screening will be introduced by Koy Thomson, Chief Executive of London Cycling Campaign, the largest urban cycling organisation in the world. Koy has worked extensively in the third sector, including as International Director of Policy for Action Aid. Ashley Erdman, fundraising officer at the World Development Movement (WDM) will also talk prior to the screening on their mission for economic justice.
The Yes Men Fix The World is screened in Bermondsey Square’s 55-seat independent art-house cinema, Shortwave, set-up by local festival organiser and filmmaker Rob Wray.
