What is the Bermondsey Square Community Fund?

The Trust raises funds from Occupiers and Owners of Bermondsey Square through the occupiers’ leases and awards grants for ‘the marketing, animation and promotion of the Bermondsey Square Estate and making a positive contribution to the wider neighbourhood and community of Bermondsey.’

The Bermondsey Square Community Fund expects to spend around £14,000 each year. We have no maximum or minimum size of grant but prefer considered applications between £500 and £2,500.

What Types of Community Projects Does the Fund Support?

The Trust’s priorities will change from time to time. The current themes are:

  • Health, happiness and well-being
  • Creative & Educational Workshops
  • Community Social Events & Festivals
  • Making Positive Environmental Impact

We will prioritise applications that:

  • Are on or close to Bermondsey Square
  • Affects large numbers of people
  • Attracts a combination of funding
  • Are reoccurring rather than one-off activities
  • Applications that amplify the public space for its intended use
